Test your knowledge by taking our 1-question quiz and celebrate Sustainable Gastronomy Day!
Today is Sustainable Gastronomy Day! Not a word we use every day, gastronomy is the art of choosing, cooking and eating good food. When paired with sustainability, that’s right up EDF’s alley!
EDF works with farmers, fishers and other partners to reduce climate pollution from food production and ensure that everyone has reliable access to nutritious food. This includes helping rural and coastal communities become more resilient, protecting valuable ecosystems and reducing powerful greenhouse gases like methane.

It takes a village to advance game-changing solutions. With our members, activists and partners, we’re cutting methane from livestock farming while protecting jobs and food supplies. The best solutions include better manure management, improved productivity — and fewer cow burps. In the last year:
# EDF helped secure a major victory when the U.S. Department of Agriculture announced a first-of-its-kind $1 billion investment in pilot projects like cutting methane pollution on dairy farms or ranches.
# EDF launched the Dairy Methane Action Alliance, a group of global food companies — including Danone, Starbucks and Nestlé — committed to helping reduce and account for the methane emissions in their dairy supply chains.
Together, we’re strengthening the ability of people and nature to thrive by building a healthy economy, thriving communities and a vital Earth.
Cheers to good food!
