ACLU Supporter,

It's hard to comprehend the level of attacks the LGBTQ community is facing right now – in the first half of 2024, state legislatures have already introduced 515 anti-LGBTQ bills:

* In states like South Carolina and Wyoming, that means new laws that criminalize gender-affirming care for trans youth – we're fighting back against these laws.

* In states like Texas, that means new drag bans popping up – we're fighting back against these, too.

* That's not to mention the 18 new anti-LGBTQ bills in Minnesota, or the 20 in Mississippi, or the 37 in Iowa.

We're facing an anti-LGBTQ epidemic across the country, and the ACLU is the first line of defense.

That's why we're launching a special campaign to raise $30,000 to fund the ACLU's work defending LGBTQ rights – and a generous donor is matching every gift up until our deadline on June 21. Will you make your first contribution to the ACLU now to double your impact to protect LGBTQ rights and ALL our rights and liberties? <[link removed]>

There are countless reasons why your support of the ACLU at this moment is so crucial: But the most important reason is that for so many, this fight is personal.

For trans kids all over the country, accessing gender-affirming care is truly lifesaving, yet thousands of those same kids are living in states where their right to access that care is currently banned or at risk.

Here's how one trans teen described her experience when her state passed a gender-affirming care ban:

"As a 17-year-old girl, I haven't even graduated high school. I should be planning for college, hanging out with my friends, and playing video games with my brother. Instead, politicians in my state have forced me to go to court to stop them from denying me the medical care my doctors, my parents, and I all know has saved my life."

Everyone deserves to get the health care they need, and trans kids deserve to be kids. Instead, gender-affirming care bans criminalize doctors for offering care and leave trans kids and their families terrified about the future.

The ACLU is fighting to end gender-affirming care bans, discrimination against LGBTQ people, and barriers to full inclusion for LGBTQ kids and adults every day. Our nationwide network of attorneys has already brought forward dozens of cases against state legislatures this year. We can and must keep up this momentum.

So ACLU Supporter, this is the moment: Please help us hit our $30,000 goal to protect LGBTQ people and protect all our civil liberties by making a generous gift of $35 before our deadline on June 20. <[link removed]>

Thanks for being with us in this fight,
