Imagine being pregnant in Gaza today.
In late stages of pregnancy, women need to drink double the water and eat more calories and rations than anyone else.
So in Gaza, where food and clean water are scarce and the healthcare system is in a state of collapse, where do you turn? How do you keep a newborn safe and fed?
There is no fuel or generators. Medicine supplies are running out. Women are having C-section procedures without any anesthesia.
When women do give birth, bedspace is so scarce that they’re immediately moved so another woman can give birth.
Pregnant women and newborns in Gaza need a surge of assistance. That’s why we’re appealing to you today:
UNFPA — the United Nations sexual and reproductive health agency — has already delivered enough supplies to support half of ALL births in Gaza since conflict erupted last year. With your support, we can deliver medicine, reproductive health kits, and humanitarian aid to even more pregnant women forced to give birth in unspeakable conditions.
Will you deliver the gift of lifesaving care in Gaza and in conflict zones where your help is needed most by making a charitable donation today?
We condemn the violence in Gaza, the West Bank, and Israel, and echo the UN Secretary-General’s call for a sustained humanitarian ceasefire and the immediate and unconditional release of all hostages by Hamas. The suffering must end and peace must prevail.
Thank you for being there for women and girls.
Sincerely,
Anu Surendran
Chief Executive Officer
