Yesterday Best for Britain released our tactical voting recommendations for 451 seats, including 370 Labour candidates, 69 Lib Dems, 2 Plaid Cymru, 7 SNP, and 3 Green candidates.

For us it isn't just an attempt to stop the Tories, and it isn’t even just about stopping Reform UK - it’s about supporting all the progressive parties in a way that allows us to all vote tactically together.

Tactical voting only works if there is a reason for voters to swap their votes. These recommendations provide that reason.

We hope that those who were worried we would base these recommendations solely on polling are now reassured. 

But, to those who say these recommendations are too late, we hope you can now see just why it was so important to wait until polling reflected ground campaigning. Particularly in those seats that are harder to call. (And some of these same people told us we decided too early in 2019!)

And thankfully Best for Britain has continued to monitor Reform UK’s vote share over the last few years, allowing us to give the best recommendations to stop the Tories as well as Nigel Farage.

Some people won't be happy with these recommendations. And that's understandable. People put their heart and soul into winning election campaigns. But until we change the voting system (and we are committed to bringing about such change) we won't be able to support every single progressive party or candidate, even though we wish we could.

From now on Best for Britain is focussed on helping these chosen candidates win. We are spending money on pushing digital and out-of-home advertising in key constituencies, thanks to donations from our amazing supporters. We couldn’t do it without you.

Changing the government is only one step in our plan. But it has to happen before we can move on to fixing our relationship with Europe and our democracy.
