We’ll deliver the petition to party leaders next week

(View online) ([link removed])
Hello friend,

Did you spot the story about our protest at the offices of financial giant BlackRock in The Times this month? [1] Ahead of the election, we’ve been raising the alarm that greedy lenders are trapping countries like Ghana in debt – and we won’t stop until we’ve won justice.

friend, this is the last chance to sign the petition to party leaders before we deliver it! Together, let’s make it impossible for politicians to ignore the need for a new debt justice law.

In Ghana, a country deep in debt crisis, the government has paid $7 billion in interest alone to western creditors since 2010. Cancelling the debt to a manageable level could increase spending on health, education and climate by 50%.

The majority of debt contracts between private lenders and lower-income countries are overseen by UK law. That means a debt justice law here could help get debt cancelled in countries like Ghana.

friend, will you sign the petition today so that we can make sure party leaders can’t ignore this crisis any more?

This is the worst global debt crisis in thirty years, but STILL financial giants like BlackRock are undermining negotiations to cancel debt, just so they can maximise their profits. Together, we can make sure whichever party wins the election takes urgent action on the debt crisis.

In solidarity,

Wiz, Heidi and everyone at Debt Justice
