Fellowship Opportunity: U.S. Department of Energy's (RAMP) Fellowship

On June 4th, our Associate Director, Laura Dresser, along with other members of the Good Jobs Collaborative <[link removed]>, participated in a webinar <[link removed]> hosted by New America, which introduced the Department of Energy's Community Workforce Readiness Accelerator for Major Projects (RAMP) — an innovative workforce fellowship opportunity. This two-year fellowship aims to empower candidates from diverse backgrounds to establish strategic workforce partnerships in their communities and address the growing labor market demands for energy jobs in areas of substantial DOE investment. This exciting initiative promises to bridge the skills gap and drive progress in the energy sector through collaborative efforts and community engagement.
The fellowship application closes on June 30, 2024.

New Blog: Pedestrian deaths often occur at “safe speeds”

Last week, The State Smart Transportation Initiative <[link removed]> published a blog examining the relationship between speed limits and pedestrian safety. The guest post, featured in Smart Growth America’s Dangerous by Design <[link removed]> 2024 <[link removed]>, shows how lack of pedestrian protections increases pedestrian deaths on roads with moderate speeds while high speeds contribute to more vehicle deaths. SSTI’s blog stresses the importance of a paradigm shift towards lower speed limits and safer road designs to prevent pedestrian fatalities effectively. Check it out!
