Work to Protect Women and Girls
Washington, D.C.- In April, the Biden administration finalized their new Title IX rule that seeks to redefine ‘sex’ to include ‘gender identity’ and therefore damage the long-standing protections for women and girls. The Department of Education’s rewrite of the regulations will allow men to compete against women in women’s sports, allow males to have access to female bathrooms and locker rooms, and strip away due process rights for college students. These policies allow males to prey on the innocence of girls while infringing on spaces originally designed to protect their privacy and modesty.
Eagle Forum called on Congress to use the power contained in the Congressional Review Act to disapprove of the new rule. Representative Mary Miller (R-IL) and Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith (R-MS) immediately stepped up to the plate. This month, they introduced resolutions in their respective chambers to overturn Biden’s radical Title IX regulation. The House resolution has garnered sixty-seven cosponsors while the Senate resolution has garnered thirty-three.
Eagle Forum President Kris Ullman stated:
Our young girls are not safe under the Biden administration’s new Title IX regulation. The lengths that this administration have gone to erase women is abhorrent. I applaud the efforts of Rep. Mary Miller and Sen. Cindy Hyde-Smith to rescind this rule. They are true stalwarts of protecting women and girls.
The efforts of Rep. Miller and Sen. Hyde-Smith would go hand-in-hand with the twenty Attorneys General who have sued the Biden administration. Since the regulation has been published, two rulings have temporarily blocked it from going into effect in ten states. Eagle Forum calls on the House and Senate to swiftly move these resolutions forward. The safety of our girls cannot wait.

Eagle Forum was founded by Phyllis Schlafly, a dynamic and charismatic leader who inspired countless women and men to participate in the process of self-government and public policy-making so that America will continue to be a land of individual liberty, with respect for the nuclear family, public and private virtue, and private enterprise. For nearly fifty years, Eagle Forum’s network of state organizations has led the charge to mobilize the grassroots to defend the founding principles of the United States.
