SOCIAL DISTANCING IS WORKING BUT WE MUST CONTINUE OUR EFFORTS

These past few months have been challenging for all Texans as we respond to COVID-19.

But by staying home and following social distancing practices, Texans are slowing the spread of COVID-19 and saving lives.

We must continue to practice these distancing strategies to mitigate COVID-19 in our communities and put Texas on a path to recovery.

TEXAS HHS APPROVES EMERGENCY SNAP BENEFITS

Texas Health and Human Services will provide more than $168 million in emergency Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) food benefits to help Texans during the COVID-19 response.

These emergency benefits will give hundreds of thousands of Texans the additional support they need to provide for their families during this challenging time.

EXPANDING TELEHEALTH OPTIONS IN RESPONSE TO COVID-19

As Texas works to limit the spread of COVID-19, we have temporarily waived a series of regulations to expand telehealth options.

These waivers allow smart phone or audio-visual, real-time, or two way interactive communication systems to qualify as telecommunications technology that can be used to provide certain telehealth services.

By expanding telehealth options, more Texans will be able to access the care they need while still following social distancing practices.

LAUNCHING THE FRONTLINE CHILD CARE WEBSITE

Last week, we launched the Frontline Child Care Website to help essential workers in Texas locate child care in their communities.

Their service and sacrifice cannot be overstated. We are so grateful for all that they’re doing to serve their fellow Texans.

ANNOUNCING $50 MILLION IN LOANS FOR TEXAS SMALL BUSINESSES

Goldman Sachs and the Liftfund, along with other community development financial institutions, are partnering to provide $50 million in loans to small businesses in Texas that have been affected by COVID-19.

These loans, made through the U.S. Small Business Administration’s Paycheck Protection Program (PPP), will primarily be used for payroll so that employees and receive their paychecks and small businesses can retain their employees.

Thank you to our partners for providing this lifeline to Texas small businesses and their employees. This partnership is an important first step in our journey to economic recovery in the Lone Star State.

SOCIAL DISTANCING GUIDELINES

The CDC recommends keeping at least 6 feet between you and another individual to help slow the spread of COVID-19.

That’s roughly the length of two Pancakes. Stay safe, Texas.
