Friends, it’s time we talk about Donald Trump’s criminal conviction in the hush money trial and what (if any) impact this will have on the November election.
Last month in New York, a jury of Trump’s peers found him guilty on all 34 counts in his plot to illegally influence the 2016 election by paying off Stormy Daniels – making him the first former president to become a convicted felon.
This trial was necessary to ensure Trump was held accountable for his actions – and our court system worked as it should to deliver justice.
But like many of you, I find myself wondering: Will it make any difference when it comes to November?
I would love to think that any reasonable person would see these guilty verdicts as an off-ramp for their support of Trump. But the fact is that for much of the GOP, it’s politically safer to stay in line behind Trump than show any moral clarity and potentially risk losing power.
If we want a reckoning for Donald Trump and MAGAism, it’s up to us to deliver it.
To do that, Democrats need to step up our fundraising and get more aggressive with our voter outreach plans – but I need your help. Will you pitch in $25 or whatever you can to my re-election campaign to help defeat my MAGA opponent and flip the House blue?

Look, Republicans have been talking a big game about Donald Trump for nearly a decade, ever since he announced his first presidential run in 2015.
From that primary race to his 2016 win, throughout his first term, and especially in the weeks and months after the January 6th insurrection, people from Mitch McConnell to Mike Pence to RNC leadership have had plenty to say about standing up to Trump.
Unfortunately, we know now that all of it is BS.
Time and time again, those same Republicans realize Trump still holds a lot of power – from money to cultural impact to control over the party infrastructure. So they promptly lose their spines and fall back in line.
Their cowardice and personal political ambition continues to make space for countless Trump-loving, right-wing extremists to rise up, find a platform, and run for office – just like my opponent.
So here’s the deal: We might be sick of hearing about Donald Trump (I know I am). But we have to keep talking about his dangerous rhetoric, the crimes he’s been found guilty of, the three other criminal cases he has pending, and what’s at stake if he gets the chance to enact his anti-democratic plans in November.
We have to do all of that and more if we’re going to defeat him – and win in every race where a MAGA, right-wing candidate is vying for power.
