Friend,
I’m really proud of a bill that passed in Minnesota this week called the Alec Smith Insulin Affordability Act. This bill takes us a giant step forward in making insulin more affordable for the hundreds of thousands of Minnesotans who rely on it.
I was so thrilled to join Governor Tim Walz and my colleagues from the Minnesota Insulin for All movement yesterday to watch this bill be signed into law. You can catch the livestream here:
Let me share with you how this bill came to be:
This was a bill made possible because of a mother who refused to let her son’s death be in vain.
Nicole Holt-Smith turned her grief into activism and together we worked for over three years to pass this bill into law. We had to fight tirelessly, because the pharmaceutical lobby put their profits first, and Minnesotans without access to affordable insulin were dying. But we were never going to give up—passion and perseverance were going to win, even over money, greed and corruption.
With the passage of this bill, I hope that not one more person ever dies from a lack of access to affordable insulin in Minnesota.
Here’s my promise to you: When I’m in Congress, I’ll keep fighting with every breath I have to provide affordable healthcare and prescription drugs to everyone.
Our work doesn’t stop until we uproot corruption out of our medical care. If you support this mission and you’re with me in this fight, please consider donating $5 to my campaign today—every dollar helps us take on the pharmaceutical companies and corporate health PACs on the other side.
Thank you,
Quinn
