John, it's Emily Busch, and I wanted to make sure you heard the news:
|
The Supreme Court recently struck down a ban on bump stocks, one of the very few federal measures taken to curb our nation's gun violence epidemic.
|
Before I continue, John, let's take a step back – a bump stock is a device that allows a gun to fire at a much faster pace than it otherwise would.
The ban was introduced after it was revealed that bump stocks were used during the tragic events of the 2017 Las Vegas mass shooting, where in just over 10 minutes, a single gunman took 60 lives and injured 400 more.
It's extremely disappointing that our nation's highest court prioritizes allowing these modification devices to be sold over the safety of our community, over the lives of our kids, but that doesn't mean the movement toward a safer future slows down.
I'm a true pro-safety Democratic working hard to unseat NRA-backed, MAGA extremist John James, and give MI-10 a voice in Congress who understands just how important it is to advocate for common-sense gun safety measures.
The journey my team and I have ahead of us won't be easy, but I'm confident that with a strong coalition of grassroots supporters, we're one step closer to a win in our race. What do you say, John? Will you join my team with a donation today?

Emily first learned the importance of community and helping others from her mom, a nurse, and dad, a manufacturing representative, while growing up in a tight-knit, middle-class Midwestern family.
The proud product of public schools, Emily worked hard in and out of the classroom, balancing her studies and interest in performing arts with an after-school job as a cashier at Ace Hardware. She went on to earn her B.A. in Biology from Indiana University and Masters from Michigan State University.
Now, Emily is running for Congress in Michigan’s 10th District to keep our kids safe, protect our rights, and lower costs for Michigan families.
Emily chose to move to Oakland County two decades ago because it was the place she wanted to raise her family – a place with friendly neighbors, good schools, and safe neighborhoods.
She and her husband, a retired firefighter and Marine, enjoy camping, fishing, and visiting national parks in their free time.
