PPADMV Supporter,
Two years after the U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, the attacks on abortion keep coming. But we finally got some good news late last week (for now).
On Thursday, the court unanimously ruled that the anti-abortion physicians challenging mifepristone do not have standing for the suit. This confirms what we’ve known all along: this politically motivated case should never have been brought. But we know they will not stop here. The case goes back to notorious Judge Matthew Kacsmaryk, who previously ruled to suspend FDA approval of mifepristone.
“Two years ago, we knew that attacks on abortion rights would not stop when SCOTUS bulldozed 50 years of precedent by striking down Roe v. Wade.
Today, we know that federal anti-abortion politicians, the partisan judges they appoint, and lackeys in state legislatures across the country will stop at nothing to continue chipping away at abortion access — in defiance of the people’s will.
They don’t care that nearly two-thirds of Americans — including the majority of residents of D.C., Maryland, and Virginia — want abortion to be legal in all or most cases.”
— Erin Bradley, Executive Director, PPADMV
Anti-democratic attacks are the heart of the anti-abortion playbook. Pack the courts. Exploit single-judge federal districts. Overturn well-established, fact-based federal precedent in favor of unscientific, partisan agendas.
Is this how we want our country to function for the rest of our lives? For the lifetimes of our children and grandchildren?
We cannot afford even four more years.
As the 2024 election approaches, it’s as important as ever for all of us — for me, for you — to signal we want to put a stop to this. Let’s get ready to Get Out and Vote.
