The Republican-controlled state legislature has wrapped up its 2024 session, John — and almost nothing was accomplished. Nada. Zero. Zilch.
Yet again, Republican lawmakers walked away from taking action on meaningful legislation benefiting hard-working, everyday Oklahomans.
Republicans, egged on by Governor Stitt, promoted a budget that failed to invest significantly in childcare, public education, and mental and behavioral health care.
The GOP-dominated House and Senate did, however, pass bills restricting citizen ballot initiatives — a move driven by fear of a citizen-driven measure to protect abortion access.
John, Oklahoma can't afford another wasted legislative session. While Republican lawmakers are focused on pushing their own special projects and interests, everyday Oklahomans are paying the price for GOP negligence.
