Dear Friend,

Did you see this petition Rich sent on Monday? We’re trying to gather 50,000 signatures in support of funding to help the Postal Service weather the coronavirus pandemic - and need your help.

Without emergency funding, the Postmaster General told Congress the Postal Service will be unable to continue operating as soon as September! But the White House has dug in its heels and refuses to provide any financial support.

Why would President Trump give billions to corporations and gut the Postal Service? Could it have something to do with the movement to allow more people to vote by mail during the pandemic?

Whatever the reason, the Postal Service is critical, especially for older Americans. 75% of Americans agree it is doing an excellent or good job.

Let’s tell Congress that they need to stand up to the president and make sure the Postal Service can continue to serve the American people.

Subject: We Have About Five Months to Save the Postal System

Dear Friend,

Millions of Americans, especially retirees, rely on the U.S. Postal Service (USPS) for daily, home delivery of mail, medicines and important goods and services no matter where they live.

Like many institutions, the coronavirus crisis has hit the Postal Service hard, as business activity slows. In response, the government has approved hundreds of billions in relief for businesses and individuals.

In March, President Trump personally rejected emergency postal service funding, and his Administration even suggested it would block the stimulus package Congress approved if it included help for the USPS.

USPS was given a loan. But it won’t be enough. Without more funding, the Postal Service will run out of funding in September -- just before vote by mail and absentee voting for the 2020 presidential election gets underway.

The U.S. Postal Service is a vital American institution that has served a critical role for more than 200 years. We can’t let it fail now.

Thanks for all you do.
