Happy Pride Month John!

I am very happy to celebrate the diversity and resilience of the LGBTQ+ community this June, especially in a city like Chicago. Illinois has long been a sanctuary state, including for our friends in the LGBTQ+ community.

Celebrating LGBTQ+ pride is about ensuring everyone enjoys the same rights in our country, regardless of who they love. That’s why, in May 2019, I voted in the House to pass the Equality Act and have made great efforts to continue bringing justice and equality to all.



This Pride Month, I hope we're reminded that Illinois must remain a model of progress at a time when many states are moving backwards in their support for equality.

But our work is far from over. The rights we have fought so hard for transgare under attack in many parts of the country.

From my seat in Congress, I will continue championing reforms to stop the discrimination that sadly is still present in housing, the healthcare system, and many other areas against LGBTQ+ people.

But I can’t do this alone. I need your support to keep pushing forward.
