I wanted you to hear this from me: We came up short of our mid-month fundraising goal over the weekend.

I won’t be alarmist or tell you that the sky is falling because we fell behind — it’s not, and that’s not how we do things.

But these deadlines do matter in a race as expensive as ours.

My Republican opponent and dark money groups are spending a fortune to flip my seat red. First, it was $5 million, then $10 million, and now they’ve spent a combined $14 million uplifting Eric Hovde and attacking our campaign.

My megamillionaire opponent is trying to buy this Senate seat, and it’s forced us to raise our own fundraising goals and spend more than we originally anticipated in order to stay competitive in the polls.

With a public fundraising deadline approaching at the end of the month, we only have a couple of weeks to balance our campaign budget and post the strongest numbers possible. I’m hoping I can count on you today to help us get back on track.

I don’t have a self-funded multimillion-dollar personal war chest to fall back on like my opponent does, so will you help us make up the ground we lost by making a donation today?
