Dear  john ,

I hope that you and your family are well. This past weekend was Father’s Day – the importance of good fathers to their families and our country can’t be understated, and I’m grateful for all of the dads across North Carolina and the country working to do right by their families.

Friday also marked Flag Day, commemorating the Second Continental Congress adopting the U.S. flag in 1777.

One of the largest flying U.S. flags in the nation is in Gastonia – It’s certainly a sight to behold! Anotther fun fact - the American flag planted on the moon in 1969 was likely made with fabric woven in Rhodhiss, NC.

Garland Held in Contempt

Last week, the House of Representatives took an important step in upholding the rule of law – holding Attorney General Merrick Garland in contempt of Congress. He is refusing to comply with a duly issued Congressional subpoena for audio tapes of President Biden’s interview with Special Counsel Robert Hur.

Why? Because those tapes comprise critical evidence, including demeanor evidence, that our investigators need to complete their thorough oversight investigations.

Shortly before the vote, I took to the House floor to call on my colleagues to support the contempt resolution and explain why it is so important that we receive and review this evidence.

The Week in Weaponized Government

Last week, the Judiciary Committee convened a hearing on the collusion we’ve seen from so-called Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) investing. When you invest in a retirement fund, you should be able to trust that the fund is being managed with  return on investment in mind – not to cartel like efforts to promote Green New Deal woke climate initiatives.

Asset management firms in this space have been and continue to engage in anticompetitive, cartel-like practices. Sunlight is the best disinfectant, and they are now withering and backpedaling furiously under our heavy scrutiny. You can watch my questioning to see for yourself:

We received some welcome news in the fight against the Censorship Industrial Complex this week. The Stanford Internet Observatory, one of the major arms of DHS censorship and election interference efforts, has collapsed.

Earlier this Congress, I convened the first-ever hearings on the vast Censorship Industrial Complex and will continue to work tirelessly to uproot these malignant practices wherever they rear their ugly heads.

Last week, suspected terrorists with ties to ISIS were arrested in multiple major cities.

They had all illegally crossed the southwest border, with at least two crossing last year, and were all roaming freely for an undetermined period of time.

Thousands pour across our open southern border each day with minimal to zero vetting. We have no idea how many potential terrorists have taken advantage of Biden's border policies.

We'll be taking Congressional action soon on this specific incident, and I will continue the fight to close our border and end the invasion.
