Jack, the Supreme Court has just struck down a Trump-era ban on bump stocks, a gun accessory that enables semi-automatic rifles to fire at rates similar to automatic weapons.

An overwhelming majority of Americans support a ban on bump stocks. This decision was a tragedy and must be righted. It's time our laws reflect the American people’s consensus, and prioritize public safety and welfare over the interests of gun lobbies.

The mass shooter in the 2017 Las Vegas massacre, the deadliest shooting in modern U.S. history, used this device to facilitate the rapid firing that led to firing more than 1,000 rounds in the crowd in 11 minutes, leaving 60 people dead and injuring over 850 more.

We cannot wait for another tragedy to occur before we act. It is imperative for the safety of our communities that Congress take decisive action to prevent any more lives lost to devices that turn semi-automatic weapons into machine guns.
