General Election 2024: What you need to know when voting in Nottingham

You will get to vote for your Member of Parliament (MP) in the General Election on Thursday 4 July 2024.

Nottingham has three constituencies:

  • Nottingham South
  • Nottingham East
  • Nottingham North and Kimberley (New constituency)

With the General Election less than 3 weeks away, here's a few things to remember...

Register to Vote - Deadline is tomorrow?

You only have until 11.59pm on Tuesday 18 June?to register to vote in the upcoming election? (if you're not registered already).?

?Don't delay, register today!


Voting by post

If you prefer not to vote in-person you can apply for a postal vote; the quickest and easiest way is to complete your application online by clicking the link below.

The deadline to apply for a postal vote is?by 5pm,?Wednesday 19 June 2024?at the very latest.

PLEASE NOTE: New rules mean that your postal vote will be rejected if it is not returned correctly.?

Voting by proxy

This means you can ask somebody you trust to vote on your behalf, the quickest and easiest way?is to apply online.

The deadline to apply for a proxy vote is?by?5pm,?Wednesday 26 June 2024.


Voter ID

Don?t forget, if you plan to vote in-person you?ll need to bring photo ID with you to your polling station. Copies or photos on your phone won't be accepted.

There are?22 acceptable forms of ID,?including:

  • passports
  • driving licences
  • Older or Disabled Person?s bus passes
  • Oyster 60+ cards

You can use an out-of-date photo ID if you look the same.

If you don?t have an acceptable form of voter ID?you can apply for a free voter ID?by 5pm on Wednesday 26 June.?

If your photo ID is either lost or damaged after this deadline, you can apply for an?emergency proxy vote,?up until 5pm on polling day.

Results

Polling stations will close at 10pm on 4 July, followed by the verification and counting of votes for Nottingham South, Nottingham East and Nottingham North and Kimberley.
