The Newsletter

Dear John,

Today marks nine years since the tragic shooting at Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Charleston, South Carolina. On June 17, 2015, nine people were brutally murdered in an act of unspeakable violence fueled by racism, bigotry, and anti-blackness.

Our hearts continue to be with the Charleston community and the families of the victims.

Their lives were stolen, but their legacy endures in our ongoing fight for justice.

We honor these victims by redoubling our efforts to end gun violence and combat the systemic racism that perpetuates these tragedies. Our mission to create safer, healthier communities through comprehensive violence prevention and advocacy is stronger than ever.

This year, we have seen significant progress in our initiatives, including:

  • Ongoing support for survivors and communities affected by gun violence, ensuring their voices are heard and their needs met.
  • Advocacy for increased funding and support for community violence intervention programs nationwide.
  • Collaboration with local leaders and organizations to develop and implement policies that address the root causes of gun violence.

As we commemorate this somber anniversary, let us renew our commitment to building a future where people can live freely, without fear.

Thank you for your ongoing support — it is vital in our fight against gun violence and systemic injustice.

In solidarity,

Team Community Justice
