Second Saturday Cyber-Salon ?
------------------------------------------------------------
If so, here's a run-down of what happened and how you can be involved next time!
The Free Press Second Saturday Cyber-Salon was held April 11 from 7-9pm via Zoom and was a great success. Our country is in danger, and we need to know how to resist. The COVID crisis has temporarily hurt our ability to organize and demonstrate, although there are other outlets for activism during this time.

The Free Press’s Bob Fitrakis and Suzanne Patzer led the program. The featured speaker was Esther Flores, a great advocate for the poor and voiceless on the West Side of Columbus, where the Hilltop is the center of the poverty and desperation. Local activist Torin Jacobs spoke about using some previously collected money on Mutual Aid support including the donation of grocery gift cards for community people in need.

John Brakey and Lori Grace of TrustVote spoke about how we can ensure accurate elections in the age of COVID 219. Bennie Smith, Shelby County Tennessee Board of Elections Commissioner and Ericka, election activist and educator also from Shelby County Tennessee, spoke about the election problems in their state. Steve Dodge, Columbus’ “one-man band” topped off the evening with music from his basement.

The usual Free Press Second Saturday Salons were attended by 20 to 40 of us on a regular basis when it was held in person at the Free Press office, but many people could not attend because of the distance from home. 37 or so people attended our first Cyber-Salon.

We are asking everyone reading this to reach out to like-minded people throughout the country and the world who may want to join the next Second Saturday Cyber-Salon via Zoom on May 9^th.
