Donald Trump is heading to Detroit this weekend, and he won’t be alone. Here’s a list of people that will be with him:

Congressman Matt Gaetz
Senator Rick Scott
Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene
Right-wing internet personality Candace Owens
RNC Chairwoman Lara Trump
Donald Trump Jr.
MyPillow CEO and conspiracy theorist Mike Lindell
Founder of the alt-right publication Breitbart and former Trump strategist Steve Bannon
Republican operative Roger Stone

Why are these folks rolling into Detroit? They’re all speakers at a conference hosted by an organization called Turning Point Action, which promotes extreme conservative causes and candidates with a focus on young people. According to recent reports, they’re also coordinating heavily with the Trump campaign and running significant door-knocking operations in a handful of battleground states, including Michigan.

The conference, which will be held at Detroit’s Huntington Place, is likely to focus on conspiracy theories and hateful rhetoric, as they have at other events.

And that’s not all: Trump will also be coming to speak at a roundtable with Black faith groups in Detroit – a clear sign that he continues to court Black voters in an effort to win them over in this election. So on the very same day, he will try to make inroads with Black voters as a way to win our state, and then go court the furthest right of his base.

Bottom line: He knows that there is no winning the presidency without winning Michigan and he is attempting to cobble together a coalition of bedfellows that will help him get there. And he will be back again and again to spread his lies and fire up voters.

We can’t stop Republicans from putting up far-right candidates and endorsing destructive ideas, but we can beat them, over and over again, and show them that they cannot win with extreme candidates. That’s what Elissa intends to do, but she only can with your support:
