John,
I wanted to take a moment to share more about why I'm running for Congress. I hope you'll read this entire message, then consider splitting a donation between my campaign and the California Democratic Party to help us improve lives in CA-27 and beyond.
When I think about why I'm running for Congress, I think about my kids -- specifically my daughter, Maya.

I'll never forget the day six years ago when Maya came home from kindergarten and told me about some “exercises” she’d done with her classmates. She didn't quite understand what was going on, but I realized she was describing an active shooter drill.
It hit me at that moment; we now live in a country where millions of Americans fear that a hug goodbye before school, a concert, or even church, could be the last.
I also think about the Supreme Court's ruling on Roe v. Wade. Right now, Maya is on a path to have less control over her body than my wife, or even my mom, did. I never imagined that was possible, and it's completely unacceptable.
The problem we face is that a major political party in our country is not willing to take common sense steps to save lives. The good news is we have the power to change that; if we can change who represents us in Congress.
My Republican opponent Mike Garcia co-sponsored a bill that would create a nationwide ban on abortion without exceptions. Literally days after the mass shooting in Uvalde, Texas, Garcia was taking cash from a pro-gun group that opposes background checks.
My campaign to unseat Mike Garcia is one of the most important races in taking Congress back from extremists. Republicans hold a nine-seat majority and CA-27 is one of just ten GOP-held toss-up districts in the entire country.
If you're with me, split a contribution of whatever amount you can between our campaign and the California Democratic Party to flip CA-27 and bring some common sense back to Washington.
