We are reaching out today with a heavy heart and a deep sense of urgency. This weekend, our nation was once again reminded of the devastating toll of gun violence. In Michigan, nine people, including two children, were injured in a senseless act of violence. In Texas, during what should have been a joyous Juneteenth celebration, two lives were lost and six others wounded.
At the Alliance, we refuse to accept this as the norm. We know what it takes to prevent gun violence. We have led the way in Washington State passing commonsense policies that help keep guns out of dangerous hands. But being safe from gun violence shouldn’t depend on where you live. It is time for Congress to take real action to end this epidemic. We won’t stop fighting until they do.
