John, In recent years, you may have noticed that corporations and right-wing politicians have teamed up to ignore, dismiss, and erase the impacts of climate change.
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis recently signed a bill to eliminate a state requirement for climate change to be considered in the creation of energy policy. He also plans to remove nearly all references to climate change in state law.
DeSantis’ action is clearly a move to appease his extremist base and please his high-dollar corporate donors, but it will also cause major damage to Florida’s ability to respond to the environmental impacts of climate change, which it’s already struggling to deal with.
This action from DeSantis is just one example of the way in which Republican members of Congress continue to stall and block any efforts to pass effective climate change legislation. They’re dedicated to delaying and shutting down bills that could be instrumental in slowing down the progression of climate change, and this WILL have disastrous effects in the future.
We have to step up, NOW. We’re demanding that our politicians WAKE UP and STOP DENYING climate change. Join us and sign the petition today.
The fossil fuel lobby is hard at work to install climate denier politicians at every level of government this November. Donald Trump has already pledged to push through dozens anti-climate bills if elected, in exchange for $1 billion in donations from oil industry big-wigs.
This corruption and blatant disregard of the scientific community’s warnings will have devastating impacts on our economy, ability to respond to natural disasters, preservation of human health, and the agriculture industry. There are too many potential consequences to name. Now more than ever, we must center climate change in the creation of all policies, particularly those surrounding racial justice, health, energy, and the economy. As Americans, we cannot and will now allow climate change to be ignored by money-hungry politicians.
Please sign the petition now: We will not allow lawmakers to dismiss climate change.
Thank you. It’s up to us to fight for our planet.
