Hi folks, I’m reaching out to wish you a Happy Father’s Day.
Today I want to celebrate all the Dads out there who mean so much throughout our lives. They’re our protectors, our biggest advocates, our first dance, and so many other roles that make them so important to us.
But for many of us, our Dads are no longer with us. So Father’s Day is also a day of reflection and appreciation for what they contributed to who we are today.
As you may know, my Dad, Ted Blunt, passed away six months ago. He was — and still is — my hero, and I miss him so much. But I feel his spirit with me every single day, even in the little moments.
On the campaign trail, people up and down the state have shared how much Dad meant to them. And it’s special because I know he lives on in so many Delawareans.
He lives on in the young educator who came up to me and said: “Your Dad saved my life.”
He lives on in the local government official from Sussex County who said: “Your Dad’s leadership taught me to stand up for my constituents.”
He lives on in his family. His children, grandchildren and his great-granddaughter.
He lives on in all of us who knew and loved him — and he leaves an example and legacy for my son, who is now a dad himself.
To all the fathers and father figures out there, we love you and wish you an incredible day!
Warmly,
- Lisa
