John,
What was once a precious Indonesian rainforest, home to critically
endangered orangutans and Hawksbill sea turtles, is becoming a
wasteland. A thriving local village has become a ghost town.
And Indonesian coal giant Adaro is rushing to expand the dirty coal
projects that did this, desperately courting financing that could destroy
the last remaining North Kalimantan rainforests.
Banks like Citi, JP Morgan, and Deutsche could quietly back the
project…unless we make it too costly for them to move ahead.
That’s why we’re going to urgently commission satellite research to expose
the damage Adaro’s mines have caused, then release it alongside a massive
public pressure campaign to force major banks to distance themselves from
this filthy project.
This is exactly what the Eko community was made for – we’ve done this
before – but we need to quickly raise the funds to make it possible. Can
you chip in to expose Adaro’s path of destruction?

Since the mines started operating, Indigenous communities have been forced
off their land and had their air choked with pollution. As the rainforest
has been threatened, so too are the last remaining migration routes for
critically endangered Hawksbill sea turtles.
We can’t let Adaro get away with more destruction.
The good news is we know exactly how to stop it…by cutting off financing.
And the pressure is working.
After campaigning and public pressure, banks like BNP Paribas have already
ruled out any financing or underwriting services to Adaro. And we’re not
finished yet.
If we can quickly commission satellite research we can show the world
clear images of what Adaro has done to the precious rainforest. Then we’ll
double down on our high-level advocacy to build consensus among banks that
they need to stay far away from Adaro.
Our team was made for this moment – can you help us stop the coal mines
and save the last remaining North Kalimantan rainforests?
