Team,
I was born and raised in Southern California to immigrant parents from Mexico, the sixth of seven children. My father worked as an industrial mechanic, and my mother was an elementary school teacher who decided to further her education by attending school at night. They made sure all seven of their children went on to become college graduates.
Millions of people across the country have stories like mine. That’s why I deeply understand the importance of DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals) and what it has done for thousands of families across the U.S.
Today marks 12 years since President Obama signed the executive order granting temporary protection to millions of young immigrants. But this is only temporary. The urgency of providing a pathway to citizenship that is efficient and possible cannot be understated.
Today, let’s recognize Dreamers' resilience, courage, and contributions across the country. We must reaffirm our commitment to fighting for comprehensive immigration reform that protects their rights and provides them with a pathway to citizenship.
¡Ánimo!
Linda
