The federal government should not be wasting your tax dollars on pet projects to help members win reelection. We must rein in our spending. It was great speaking at the Citizens Against Government Waste press conference.

Biden’s energy regulations have wreaked havoc on small businesses, especially in the homebuilding and manufactured homes industry. I met with the Manufactured Housing Institute to discuss these challenges and ways Congress can help.

Get the Facts: Hunter's in TROUBLE

This week, just three hours after deliberation began, a jury in Wilmington, Delaware found Hunter Biden guilty on all charges. The charges include lying about drug use on a federal background check form and possessing a gun while addicted to, or using, illegal drugs. Sentencing is scheduled for 120 days post-verdict, which will be sometime in mid-October with a maximum penalty of 25 years in jail and a fine of $750,000. Hunter Biden’s crime of purchasing a firearm in 2018 while actively struggling with addiction came to light after he left his laptop at a repair shop and the owner then contacted authorities over illicit content contained in the laptop including images of Hunter’s drug use. The laptop story, which I am sure many of you are familiar with, was stigmatized as misinformation and banned from social media. Meanwhile, the laptop was eventually found to be credible and information gathered from the laptop was used by the prosecution in the case. So far, President Biden has remained firm in the position that he will not pardon his son for his crimes, but has not ruled out commuting his sentence. As of now, nothing is set in stone, and we will find out more once sentencing happens around mid-October.

Casework Highlight

A constituent contacted the office after they did not receive their 2020 tax refund and were unable to get an update from the IRS. After contacting the IRS, we got their return processed and refund issued.

Military Academy Nominations

As a member of Congress, I have the privilege of nominating a limited number of people to four of the five service academies. This would include nominating candidates for appointment to the U.S. Military Academy (West Point), the U.S. Naval Academy, the U.S. Air Force Academy, and the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy. The fifth service academy, the U.S. Coast Guard Academy does not require a congressional nomination for appointment. For more information click here.
