It's not a stretch to say that being a dad to our six kids is the driving force behind Juan’s results-oriented approach to legislating. It’s all about time. He is sacrificing time with our family to serve the people of district six and our country. In my husband’s mind, this sacrifice must render maximum impact because what he is giving up is so precious to him. Through their one-on-one trips, each of our kids has witnessed first-hand the service their dad gives to his constituents, and they genuinely admire him for it. I am a big believer in the adage, “more is caught than taught.” For this reason, I am certain our kids have “caught” the importance of servant leadership through their dad’s example.
A hard reality is that as a member of Congress, Juan must run every two years. We live in a tough, competitive district and the Democrats WANT this seat to regain the majority in the House. It's one of just 18 swing districts in the country. Already, over $2.0 million has been spent on negative and dishonest attack ads about my husband. Through it all, Juan remains optimistic and busy doing his best for the people of district six.
