Help create a public outcry against bailing out the fossil fuel industry.
Food & Water Action

John,

Congress is already working on the next stimulus package, and giant oil corporations are STILL trying to take advantage of the national coronavirus crisis by seeking a taxpayer bailout.

While people have been struggling with our new reality and doing everything possible to keep loved ones and communities safe, fossil fuel companies are putting their interests before the safety and health of the American people.

You helped create a public outcry against bailing out the fossil fuel industry in the previous stimulus packages, but we need to keep the pressure on Congress by demanding they put people first and not bail out big oil and gas corporations.

Take action now to make sure the next relief package helps people, not corporations.

Dirty energy corporations amassed staggering amounts of corporate debt over the past decade through greed and bad business decisions. But Trump and his enablers in Congress are going to do everything they can to bail out billionaire CEOs at the expense of everyone else.

We can’t let them.

We need to make it clear that the next stimulus package must:

  • Reject any and all bailouts for the oil and gas industry;
  • Impose a moratorium on all water shutoffs, provide funding to restore water service and help ensure that everyone has access to safe, clean water through the WATER Act; and
  • Set up a national strategic grain reserve that allows farmers to plan ahead so they can count on a base level of payment for their supply.

Now is not the time for big oil and gas bailouts. Families are struggling and Congress must put them first.

Every dollar we give away to greedy corporations is a dollar we’re taking away from doctors and nurses who need masks and ventilators, and from families struggling to pay for essentials like housing, food and water.

Bailing out dirty energy companies is immoral — and at a time like this, it should be unthinkable. Make it clear to Congress: We need to support families and workers, not corporations.
