On June 1, we welcomed Binaifer Nowrojee as president of the Open Society Foundations. She is the first woman and the first person from the Global South to lead the organization. The pursuit of justice and human rights has always been central to her career, from her upbringing in Kenya to working with survivors of rape in Rwanda after the 1994 genocide—advocacy efforts that set a landmark precedent for the prosecution of sexual violence as an international crime.
With her over 20 years working at Open Society, Binaifer brings her unique experience and perspectives to the world’s largest private human rights funder. Watch the video here ([link removed]) .
