John, it's not every day you hear "Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jane Fonda" in the same sentence. But Arnold and I go way back, and we have a lot in common.

Rewind to the 80s, and you'll find Arnold and me at the heart of the original fitness craze. Remember those neon leg warmers, VHS workout tapes, and aerobics classes? We were the original fitness influencers before social media was even a twinkle in the internet's eye.

And then, of course, there's politics. Arnold was the last Republican governor elected in California, while I’ve been a lifelong progressive activist. On the surface, we might seem like an odd pair, but when it comes to fighting Big Oil, we’ve found common ground.

This year, we're teaming up to defeat a dangerous Big Oil power grab in California. Back in March, Arnold joined me and Governor Newsom at an event near Inglewood Oil Field to oppose Big Oil’s deceptive campaign to overturn California’s crucial 2022 law that banned oil wells within 3,200 feet of our schools, hospitals, and other vulnerable safety areas.

During an interview that day, Arnold joked that I’ve been bossing him around since the 70s, but it didn't take any convincing to get him to show up for a fight we both care deeply about — protecting our planet from out-of-control oil drilling. That’s because he knows this is about more than partisan politics. This is about protecting our children’s health, our communities, and our future.

This issue affects all of us — whether you’re a Republican or Democrat, a movie star or a movie fan, a Californian or a Floridian. It's about coming together for a cause that transcends our differences and unites us around a common goal: derailing the fossil fuel industry’s greedy agenda and protecting our environment from the harms of oil drilling.
