Fighting for Reproductive Freedom

Hello Friends,

I hope you are having a wonderful weekend. You may have seen in the news this week that the United States Supreme Court unanimously rejected a baseless challenge that would have restricted access to the abortion medication mifepristone.

I’ll keep fighting until women can access the full slate of reproductive health care.

This ruling is welcome news and a relief for millions of women and families across the country. In the “Live Free or Die” state, we believe in less government interference in our personal lives.

While I’m pleased to see the Supreme Court reject this challenge, I am deeply concerned that it was rejected on legal standing alone, leaving the door open for future attacks on women’s bodily autonomy and reproductive freedom.

Families in New Hampshire and across the country rely on IVF to help them have children.

Also this week, while Republicans in the Senate blocked a vote on a bill to codify access to IVF, I was proud to stand with my colleagues in the House to demand a vote on legislation to protect access to reproductive health care and technologies. Deeply personal medical decisions about birth control, family planning, and abortion should be made between patients and their doctors, not politicians or judges.

Let me be clear: this is not over—I will continue fighting until women and families can access the full slate of reproductive health care, from abortion to IVF to birth control, free from government interference.

Keeping Our Children and Pets Safe

Our government must do more to protect both our children and animals.

As a mother and animal lover, I am deeply disturbed by the degree to which child and animal abuse co-occurs. Evidence has identified a strong link between animal abuse and domestic violence, child abuse, and elder abuse.

I was proud to introduce bipartisan legislation this week to enhance our understanding of these abhorrent behaviors and provide a better foundation for abuse screening, prevention, and treatment programs.

Bringing Broadband to More Granite Staters

In the 21st century, access to the internet isn’t a luxury, it’s a necessity.

Access to reliable broadband is crucial to growing New Hampshire’s economy and helping our communities thrive, particularly in rural and historically underserved areas.

This week, I was thrilled to see the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) give the green light for New Hampshire to begin implementing the Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment (BEAD) program. This approval unlocks nearly $200 million to connect more Granite State households with affordable and reliable broadband—a win-win for our communities and economy.

Our Granite State small business owners and entrepreneurs demonstrate why New Hampshire is such a wonderful place to live, work, and raise a family.

It was wonderful to attend the 13th Annual Experience New Hampshire event this week to celebrate and recognize the talents and contributions of our state’s business leaders and communities. Thank you to Senator Shaheen, the New Hampshire State Society, and all the small business owners and community members who joined us for another fantastic evening!

Welcoming Dartmouth's First-Year Fellows to Washington

Welcome to Washington, First-Year Fellows!

I had a wonderful time meeting with Dartmouth’s First-Year Fellows at the Capitol and welcoming them to Washington this week.

The First-Year Fellows program gives students the opportunity to participate in a range of policy internships with Dartmouth Alumni mentors across D.C. and gain valuable, first-hand exposure to the legislative and policy processes. I’m wishing them a fun and rewarding experience!

VA Mental Health Visits: The VA is working to make mental health care more accessible and affordable. Veterans may not have to pay a copay for their first three visits with a qualified mental health care provider at a VA facility.
