Hey John —

We have some disappointing news to share: it’s the middle of the month and we’re nowhere near where we need to be if we want to hit our monthly fundraising goal.

June is always a tough month for fundraising — when you hear folks talking about the “summer slump” that’s what they’re referring to. We expected to see a slight dip, especially since folks are spending less time in front of a computer screen. But we honestly weren’t expecting this much of a dip.

Now, let’s be very clear: the sky isn’t falling, the world isn’t ending, and we’re not trying to scare you into donating, but this certainly is a setback.

The harsh truth is that if we miss important deadlines and goals like tonight’s mid-month target, we'll miss our big FEC end-of-quarter deadline. That means that the work we do to expand health care access to those who need it and protect our civil liberties gets that much more challenging. John, we’re asking:

Will you make a donation of any amount — even $4 or $10 would help — so our team can catch up on our June fundraising goal? If everyone who opened and read this email chipped in even a few bucks we’d be in a much stronger position.
