Dear Friend --
I am writing to update you on
CLUE’s urgent work on behalf of incarcerated immigrants and to ask for
your help as we seek humanitarian release for hundreds of our
vulnerable neighbors who are being held in Southern California
detention centers.
The good news: some detained
immigrants are getting released from detention.
The bad news: they need
shelter.
Can you help?
You have probably heard about the
dire situation for immigrants detained in facilities like Adelanto and
Otay Mesa. (I invite you to watch this video from our friends at the Interfaith Movement
for Human Integrity if you want to learn more).
CLUE is partnering with
human rights groups working around the clock to get the most
vulnerable immigrants (those with pre-existing medical conditions and
other disabilities) released from immigration detention
immediately.
CLUE’s own immigration program is
focused on finding safe shelter for those who are released. We have
begun to make headway but there is so much more work to
do.
However, there is no extra room in
the budget to undertake this critical work. Your gift today means we
can continue to provide lifesaving support for our most vulnerable
neighbors.
Your generosity is critical to ensure that men and women released
from detention have a safe place to stay in Southern California
Please consider a donation of $50 once, or on a monthly
basis, today. Can we count on you?
Thank you.
In faith and
solidarity,
Michelle Seyler
Executive Director, CLUE
Justice
P.S. If you are receiving a stimulus check and don’t need it
for yourself, please consider increasing your gift to help
our brothers and sisters at this time.
