Striving to prevent maternal and neonatal tetanus (MNT) in Pakistan
MNT is claiming the lives of mothers and their babies in communities where women give birth in unhygienic conditions and is particularly prevalent in rural Pakistan, where health care centers are few and far between. UNICEF and partners are committed to reducing neonatal tetanus through simple but effective measures: clean labor and delivery environments, proper umbilical cord care and lifesaving vaccinations. Through the dedicated efforts of health care workers and the support of global partnerships, UNICEF is helping create a healthier future for these remote communities.

Fighting cholera from the ground up in Zambia
Communities across Zambia are at risk of cholera, an easily preventable but lethal disease that can take hold in hours if not treated. In areas without access to safe water or adequate sanitation and hygiene facilities, the danger of cholera becomes far more likely. As Zambia continues to battle its worst outbreak in decades, UNICEF is working hand-in-hand with the Zambian government to reach families impacted by cholera with the help of local community volunteers. Their ability to work within communities to share crucial knowledge and resources is vital to the success and longevity of the program.

Giving Ukrainian refugee children the space to heal
Children and their families fled the unimaginable violence of war in Ukraine to find safety in neighboring countries like Moldova, Poland and Romania. For children like Eva and Misha, UNICEF play and learning spaces offer a place to heal and connect with other children in their new community. These spaces provide programs that support children’s mental health, help them feel a sense of belonging and encourage them to play again.
