SUPPORTING SMALL BUSINESSES
On the morning of Tuesday, June 11th, Gov. Hogan spoke at the National Federation of Independent Business’ (NFIB) Leadership Breakfast to discuss his plan to help small businesses grow and expand.

Gov. Hogan: “During my time as governor, Maryland became known as an undoubtedly pro-business and pro-jobs state. In Washington, I will reach across the aisle to deliver common-sense solutions that will alleviate sky high inflation impacting our nation’s small businesses and ensure they have the ability to grow and create jobs.”

The same day, and continuing his Strong Independent Leadership Tour, Gov. Hogan rolled out his Small Business Relief Plan at Marlin Steel, a Maryland-based company that manufactures and exports steel wire and sheet metal products to more than 35 countries.

Gov. Hogan: “As governor, I was proud to change the entire mission of state government to be unabashedly pro-jobs and pro-business, and jumpstart the greatest economic turnaround in America.

We helped small businesses like Marlin Steel expand by finding ways to reduce the tax and regulatory burden, and through innovative incentive programs like More Jobs For Marylanders.

I’m looking forward to bringing these same policies and ideas to the United States Senate.”

Gov. Hogan spent the rest of the day visiting more small businesses, meeting more Maryland business owners, and connecting with voters (as well as a close friend from across the aisle).

Gov. Hogan: “We grabbed lunch at The Essen Room in Pikesville with my good friend, former Democratic State Senator Bobby Zirkin, and small business owners from Maryland’s Jewish community. It was a great crowd.

Thank you to owner Lou Ellison for having us—and for one of the best reubens I have ever had!”

Next, Gov. Hogan stopped in Glen Burnie to visit WildFlower, a full-service florist serving the Baltimore region whose business has truly blossomed since opening in 2016.

Gov. Hogan: “Thank you to their team for telling us more about WildFlower, and for helping us put together a bouquet for Yumi! I encourage all Marylanders to support your local florist.”

On Thursday, June 12, Gov. Hogan spent the morning meeting with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s Board of Directors to discuss some of his priorities for the U.S. Senate–including tax relief, expanding workforce development, and cutting excessive regulations.

Gov. Hogan: “We need more leaders in Washington who understand what it's like to run a business and know the challenges Main Street is facing.

I’ll continue to be unabashedly pro-jobs and pro-small business so we can grow the economy and create more opportunities for Marylanders.”

Afterwards, Gov. Hogan went to Hyattsville and visited Centro de Habla Hispana, a small business that provides a variety of translation and financial services to local businesses and members within Maryland’s hispanic community.

Gov. Hogan: “I want to thank CEO Dendry Aguilar for sharing with us the incredible work her team does for Spanish-speaking Marylanders. Thank you for the warm welcome!

In the Senate, I will work with our state’s small business owners to ensure they have the resources they need to keep changing Marylanders' lives for the better.”

While in Hyattsville, Gov. Hogan also sat down with representatives of several Hispanic-owned businesses to hear about the unique challenges their community is facing in Prince George’s County, including economic hardship and rising crime rates.

That afternoon, the governor met up with his close friend and former Lieutenant Governor Boyd Rutherford for lunch in Elkridge at Rathskeller, an authentic German restaurant in Howard County.

“Maryland Republicans did something unusual recently. In nominating former Republican Gov. Larry Hogan for the Senate, they selected a candidate for federal office with a chance to win. A Personal Message from Governor Larry Hogan:
[link removed]

Hi, it’s Governor Larry Hogan.

When I launched my campaign for the U.S. Senate, I did so with a deep resolve to maintain the leadership style and principles that guided me during my eight years as governor.

Fifty years ago, my father, Maryland Congressman Larry Hogan Sr. made a tough decision. He became the first Republican to come out for the impeachment of President Nixon. He put aside party politics and his own personal considerations and stepped up to do the right thing for Maryland and the nation.

Today, Washington is completely broken because that kind of leadership and willingness to put country over party has become far too rare. But it’s not in my nature to sit back and watch the dysfunction continue without doing what I can to roll up my sleeves and get to work.

I’m under no illusion this will be an easy road. But I’m no stranger to uphill battles, and I know I can’t do it without your support.

I don't aspire to be a United States senator. I don’t need a title and I don’t need a job, but I’m more concerned than ever about the direction of the country and I have become more convinced that I can make a difference by taking the approach and style of leadership I had during my eight years as governor to Washington.

It’s no surprise this mindset has made me a target of the Washington partisans. Despite early polls showing a lead, I know I’m the underdog in this race. And that’s why your support TODAY is so crucial.

So if you can chip in a donation of $25 or more, it will go a long way in helping me continue building a strong campaign.

For eight years, we proved that the toxic politics that divide our nation didn’t need to divide our state, and we got results! Let’s get back to work again and send a message to Washington that will be heard loud and clear across the country!

[link removed]
Will you join me today and help end the dysfunction in Washington?
Thank you,

Larry Hogan
