At Progressive Majority, we're fighting back against Trump and his agenda. We're working non-stop to protect our economy, our healthcare, and our future by turning out crucial Democratic voters across the country and electing progressive leaders up and down the ballot.

That's why we're proud to endorse Christy Smith in the special election for California's 25th Congressional District.

Christy is a State Assemblywoman and former school board member who has advocated for students her entire career. She's running for Congress to improve public education by investing in local public classrooms, hiring more teachers, reducing class sizes, and paying teachers livable, middle-class wages. She'll work to end corruption in Washington by fighting the disastrous Citizens United decision. She knows we need to safeguard health by establishing a public option, lowering drug prices, protecting Medicaid and Medicare, and defending Planned Parenthood.

It's critical we keep this seat blue. Christy's opponent, Republican Mike Garcia, will help the GOP dismantle the ACA, let insurance companies keep raising costs for life-saving drugs, and give giant tax breaks to big business at the expense of the middle-class if he's elected.

The good news is that Christy can beat Mike Garcia -- she already has. In the general primary last month, Smith beat him by four points.

But this race will be close. After the primary and an onslaught of Republican attacks, The Cook Political Report just moved this district from "Lean Democrat" to "Toss-up," and reported the race was now within the margin of error.

Christy knows how to win a tough race -- she flipped a seat in 2018 that had been held by Republicans for over 40 years. But because she doesn't accept donations from Big Pharma, Big Oil, the Gun Lobby, or Big Tobacco, she's relying on grassroots support to win this race -- and it's less than one month away!

That's why we're writing to you today. We need your help to build resources for Progressive Majority so we can defend vulnerable House incumbents with grassroots support -- and so we can expand our majority by helping winning challengers like Christy Smith.
