Dear PPMW Supporter,
It’s official: The U.S. Supreme Court has unanimously tossed out the case challenging mifepristone’s FDA approval! This essential medication remains FDA approved. Protecting medication abortion has been a long fight, and we appreciate all of the supporters who have joined us each step of the way.
While we are relieved that we can continue to provide medication abortion that meets the top standard of care, we remain incensed that access was ever at risk. Abortion is a fundamental freedom and medication abortion is essential health care.
We have long known that attacks on mifepristone’s FDA approval were politically driven, with absolutely no basis in science or medicine.
The fight to protect and defend sexual and reproductive health care continues. Now, we await the Supreme Court’s ruling on the Emergency Medical Treatment and Active Labor Act (EMTALA) — the federal law requiring that Medicare-participating hospitals provide emergency abortion care. We will update you when that ruling is released.
In the meantime, please donate to PPMW and sign up to volunteer. Because everyone deserves care, no matter what.
