Fellow Conservative,

This week was action packed in the nation’s Capital. Critical legislation that was months in the making has finally been introduced, Republicans have taken action to refocus the military towards its core mission of readiness, and the Supreme Court has begun releasing long awaited decisions before they leave town for their summer break. Here is what you need to know:

The Left wants people to believe they are the ones fighting discrimination and division, but the reality is they are the ones keeping it alive. The Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) agenda treats individuals according to immutable characteristics such as race or sex instead of treating them according to the content of their character and professional merit.

This is no way to treat people, and it’s no way to run a government. That’s why Sen. J.D. Vance (R-Ohio) and Rep. Michael Cloud (R-Texas) introduced The Dismantle DEI Act (S. 4516 / H.R. 8706) to comprehensively eliminate taxpayer funding of federal offices, programs, grants, and trainings.

Heritage Action has included this bill as a Key Vote and cosponsorship of the bill will be recorded on our legislative scorecard. Every Senator and Representative will have the opportunity to improve their Heritage Action score by adding their name as a cosponsor to this bill.

Now, it’s up to the grassroots to show Congress that you support this legislation. Grassroots have successfully compelled Congress to support measures in the past including a bill to protect America from CBDCs and the protection of women and girls in sports. It’s time to rally again and show Congress that the time for reform is now.

The House passed their version of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for Fiscal Year 2025 and included an important amendment to rescind Secretary of Defense’s abortion memo.

The NDAA specifies the annual budget and expenditures of the Department of Defense (DoD) and has been renewed annually since 1961.

The version introduced last week was on the right path but omitted language that would undo the abortion memo from DoD Secretary Lloyd Austin which illegally subsidizes special travel and paid leave for elective abortions.

Fortunately, Representative Beth Van Duyne (R-Texas.) introduced an amendment to the NDAA to rescind this memo and thanks to the robust support of the grassroots, the House passed it and incorporated the amendment into the NDAA.

The American people agree that abortions should not be funded by taxpayers. The House passed the NDAA with Van Duyne’s amendment and now it’s up to the Senate to do the same.

If the Senate moves forward with a version of the NDAA that does not include language to prevent the taxpayer funding of abortion, conservatives must fight to keep this fundamental priority included in the final version of the bill during the negotiation process between the two chambers. Heritage Action will be monitoring and keeping you updated as this unfolds in the Senate.

In a 6-3 decision, the Supreme Court ruled in Garland v. Cargill that the federal government cannot use a ban on machine guns to also ban bump stocks.

This case is important because if the ATF (Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives) were able to ban firearm accessories, they would be able to greatly curtail legal firearm owner’s ability to get the tools they need to adequately defend themselves.

But this isn’t the only federal assault on firearms. The Biden administration’s Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) has issued a regulation targeting the firearm industry by restricting their foreign exports and burying them in red tape.

These restrictions could create a 7% reduction - or $40 million loss in revenue for the U.S. firearm industry. This would pave a pathway for Biden to continue to squeeze firearm companies and stop them from being able to provide for legal firearm owners.

This is where you come in. This regulation is subject to a period of public comments. Meaning you can make your voice heard by clicking HERE and telling the administration to rescind this regulation.

The comment period ends soon so don’t wait.

Your work keeps conservatives on offense and reminds the government that they can’t do whatever they want – they are accountable to the American people. Thank you for all that you do.
