Last month was the first month that students didn’t have to worry about gun violence at school.
It’s not because of anything Mitch McConnell’s Senate has done — we’re still waiting on universal background checks. It’s because of forced school closures due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
It’s a sickening reality to think that a pandemic causing forced school closures is the reason why our students have been safe from school shootings.
In time, schools will reopen and students will return to class. School shootings will become another threat that young people in our country have to face.
We are making strides in helping to elect gun safety candidates. We’re putting pressure on Mitch McConnell to bring universal background checks to a vote on the floor in the Senate. It’s on us to do everything we can to keep schools safe for our children.
Right now, Americans are worried about their health and safety during this pandemic. When students can return back to class, we want them to be as safe as possible. No student should have to worry about gun violence, especially in places of learning.
Now more than ever, we need Americans to feel safe. Your donations help us continue essential work in the fight against gun violence.
Let’s make a month without school shootings last longer than a pandemic.
Thank you for standing with us.
