Andrew Gwynne's Election Update
View this newsletter online
Hello and welcome to my election update!

There's now less than three weeks to go till the big day!

Every conversation had, every door knocked, every leaflet delivered, every letter stuffed, it is all incredibly important, and I want to sincerely thank everyone who has been involved in the campaign so far.

This week saw the release of each party's manifesto, and the choice at this election could not have been made clearer.

A Conservative Party utterly bereft of ideas, or change with Labour.

But we cannot be complacent, we must continue to fight for every single vote, and I look forward to seeing even more of you out on the campaign trail between now and July 4!
A NOTE ON DONATIONS
Elections are many things, but one thing they are not is cheap.

Leaflets, posters, gardens stakes, social media advertisements, there is so much that goes into a successful campaign, and that cannot be done without funds.

We know the Tories have gamed the system, massively increasing spending limits so their billionaire donors can throw even more money at their failed party.

If we are to win this election, we need to fight them all the way.

So, anything you can spare, big or small, will all go into our campaign battle fund, helping beat the Tories so we can change our country.

The Labour manifesto full of hope for a brighter future for Britain, read it in full HERE.

On July 4, vote for change, vote Labour.
Steve Marsland is a superb headteacher at Russell Scott Primary School, and I couldn't wish for anyone better to look after my old school.

I was proud to stand alongside him after the botched reconstruction by Carillion, and fight tooth and nail to get our kids in Denton the school facilities they deserve.

Steve embodies the values of public service and pride in community, his support in this election means the world.
Great to visit Longsight Eagles Football Club with Councillor Suzanne Richards, to hear about the fantastic work they do providing kids of all abilities with access to football.

We spoke about the range of challenges they face, from sustainable funding to having a permanent venue to call home.

If elected, I look forward to working with them, and supporting their programmes that give vital opportunities to kids across the community.
New developers have bought the Bredbury Parkway site and are seeking to build in our Tame Valley.

Tonight they came to St Lawrence’s Cricket Club in Denton to show their indicative plans and to listen to the views of Dentonians.

I made my views clear that nothing has changed since the Government’s Planning Inspector refused Quorum’s development two years ago.

Traffic congestion in Denton remains unaddressed; light and noise pollution affecting the Local Nature Reserves remain worries; and the impact of industrial sheds on the openness of the Tame Valley from Castle Hill and Haughton Green are still issues of concern.

Above all, the Tame Valley was the greatest environmental and recreational gift the old Greater Manchester Council left to the people of Tameside and Stockport: as with previous attempts, it’s NOT up for grabs!
The PM can lie all he likes, but the facts about our tax plans are clear.

NO Income tax increase.

NO NI increase.

NO VAT increase.

Instead, we'll be closing non-dom loopholes and clamping down on tax dodgers, so we can cut NHS waiting lists.
Our NHS and social care system are in crisis.

When Labour left office, we had the lowest waiting times and highest patient satisfaction in NHS history.

We've done it before, we'll do it again.
It was great to attend an event with Women's Voices in Longsight earlier this week alongside Councillor Suzanne Richards.

They're an incredible group offering support and mentoring to women from all backgrounds.

The brainchild of the inspirational Nadia, and with a fantastic bunch of volunteers, this charity does so much good work to empower women.

A number of the ladies had taken part in a food hygiene course recently and it was a massive privilege to be asked to award their certificates to them.
Thank you to Della Ryan for her support, she has been a tireless campaigner for justice as one of the Subpostmasters affected by the Horizon Scandal.

I have been campaigning alongside Della and everyone affected for many years, and it's testament to the hard work of all those involved that we are finally seeing progress.

If re-elected, I'll continue to do all I can to back victims of the Horizon Scandal, and ensure justice is properly delivered.
Great to visit the Ensemble theatre group at Denton West Community Centre.

It was the final day of their youth inclusion production about online safety, peer pressure, bullying and the pressures of social media. It’s an emotional, but also upbeat and all singing and dancing musical piece.

I wasn't able to stay for the play (after someone called an election...) but wanted to drop in and say break a leg to the fantastic cast and crew!
A pleasure to be asked to cut the ribbon at Chandni, a fantastic new Pakistani restaurant in Burnage.

The food was absolutely superb, and I’d highly recommend it!

It was great to speak to those behind this new small business about their plans, and what I can do to support if elected on July 4th!
Thank you to all those who have been out campaigning this week, braving the typical Manchester weather!

The reception has been brilliant across the constituency, with residents excited about the prospect of a Labour MP, working with a Labour Government, to deliver change for our communities.
