3 Ways You Can Help from Home As Doorways continues our work to keep survivors, youth, and families safe and housed in this unprecedented COVID crisis, we need you. How can you help from home? Here are some ways you can keep our Doorways open this week. 1) Sew Cloth Face Coverings for Doorways The CDC is advising the use of simple cloth face coverings to slow the spread of the virus. If you sew, we need your help! Create covers like the one shown here with step-by-step instructions from the CDC. Mail your completed covers to Doorways at P.O. Box 100185, Arlington, VA 22210, or deliver them in person during Drive-Thru Deeds on Fridays. Create Your Fundraiser Now What your friends' gifts can do $100 can help provide trauma-informed therapy for a survivor of sexual assault $50 can provide fresh set of clothing and a welcome kit for a survivor $25 can help provide court advocacy for a survivor's protective order petition process You can also use a donation sticker to support Doorways on your Instagram Story. We have created a collection of posters that you can easily print on your home printer, on standard-size office paper. Hang them where they can be seen, such as in your apartment building's elevator. If you do leave home to go grocery shopping, pick up a prescription, or access other essential services, consider taking a poster with you and asking the business to display this resource for their customers. Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month Learn how to respond supportively to survivors of sexual assault Talking about sexual assault is hard. For many survivors, the reaction of the first person they disclose to, often a friend or family member, can have a huge effect on their healing process. That's why RAINN, the nation's largest anti-sexual violence organization, is helping family and friends of survivors learn how they can support their loved ones after assault with this guide.
