Governor Releases WGA Decarbonization Initiative Findings

At the Western Governor's Association meeting this week, Governor Gordon released the report containing findings of his Decarbonizing the West initiative. The Governor's initiative sought to advance environmentally sound and economically reasonable, practical paths to address decarbonization. Decarbonization does not mean abandoning Wyoming’s core industries. It means embracing innovation and supporting state-specific approaches. These include providing states and utility companies time and adequate incentives to develop cost-effective CO2 capture technologies. A complete copy of the report can be found on WGA’s website.

Wyoming Steps Up to Assist Community After Road Collapse

When Wyoming Highway 22 (Teton Pass) collapsed in the early in the morning of June 8, Wyoming sprang into action. Within hours, the Wyoming Department of Transportation began working to reopen the route as quickly as possible. Elected officials, state employees and community members collaborated to mitigate the impacts and assist those whose lives have been upended by the closure. A temporary fix is on the horizon, and the collaboration from all involved is something Wyoming can be proud of.

Governor To Host Town Hall Meeting in Gillette to Address Federal Overreach, Energy and Public Lands Issues

With Wyoming facing a barrage of proposed rules from the federal government impacting its energy industries and public lands, the Governor is hosting a Town Hall in Gillette to discuss the issues with the public and share how the state is responding to protect our economy and energy workforce.

The Town Hall will take place from 1 to 3 pm on June 25 at Gillette College’s Technical Education Center. Joining Governor Gordon and sharing their perspective will be members of the Campbell County Commission, state agency leaders, and industry representatives.

Pilot Natrium Nuclear Plant Breaks Ground in Kemmerer

The Governor joined local and state officials to celebrate the start of construction on TerraPower's Natrium nuclear power plant on Monday. This first-of-its-kind project offers the promise of hundreds of jobs, enhanced careers, and renewed vitality for the community of Kemmerer.

This project also demonstrates how good things can happen when the private and public sectors work together to solve problems. Advances made here will bolster Wyoming’s ability to produce another source of dispatchable power securely. In Wyoming we know energy — and we will continue to provide it to help keep our nation competitive and safe.

Governor welcomes new Wing Commander for Air National Guard 

The Wyoming Air National Guard's 153rd Airlift Wing welcomed their new wing commander, Col. Brian W. Diehl on June 8. The Governor and First Lady joined hundreds of personnel from the Wyoming Air National Guard, friends and family, and community leaders for the ceremony.
