Dear John, You may have seen on the news that Rio Grande do Sul in Brazil is experiencing the biggest climate disaster in their history and urgently needs help. Approximately 200,000 houses are affected, nearly half of which are destroyed, leaving around 600,000 people displaced, more than 56,000 in shelters and an unknown number of people staying with friends, families and neighbors. Around 43,000 refugees and people in need of international protection, mostly Venezuelans and Haitians, are living in areas affected by the floods. They have already been forced to flee once by violence and instability—now they have once again lost their homes. Your help now is urgently needed. |
