Dear neighbor,
As we enjoy the start of summer, please be sure to check your passport’s expiration date! If you’re planning to travel abroad before the end of this year, your passport must be up to date. My staff and I are ready to assist you and your family with the passport renewal process.
Passports that expire within six months of your planned travel should be renewed well before your trip to avoid delays or cancellations. For passport help, please call the casework team in my Los Angeles office at 323-651-1040.
PUSHING BACK AGAINST EXTREMISM: This week, I was honored to join several of my colleagues led by Congressman Jared Huffman (D-CA) in launching the Stop Project 2025 Task Force. This new working group will counter Project 2025, an extreme, pro-authoritarianism plan led by conservatives to undermine reproductive freedom, LGBTQI+ rights, racial justice, and democratic institutions across government.
Project 2025 would drag our country backwards, and I am committed to defending the rights and freedoms we hold dear as Americans. Learn more about the Stop Project 2025 Task Force here.
SUPREME COURT DECISION PROTECTS ACCESS TO MIFEPRISTONE: Yesterday, the Supreme Court unanimously decided to protect access to mifepristone. This is a short-term victory for women seeking reproductive health care, but make no mistake – reproductive freedoms are still under attack across the country.
There is nothing in the Supreme Court’s ruling to prevent conservative extremists from passing laws to restrict reproductive health care access or to prevent the Court from hearing a similar case to ban access to mifepristone in the future. House Democrats stand united to defend reproductive freedom. Read my full statement here.
STANDING UP FOR ARTISTS: Musical artists provide the soundtrack to our daily lives. Singers, publishers and songwriters deserve fair compensation for their work. Unfortunately, large streaming corporations are unfairly slashing this compensation.
That’s why I sent a letter to the U.S. Copyright Office expressing concerns over Spotify’s new bundle plans and whether they are in line with regulations to protect publishers and songwriters. I remain committed to ensuring artists have control over their own work and are fairly compensated for the art they share with all of us.
Happy Father’s Day! To all the dads and father figures, thank you for all that you do. For more information on my work in Congress, please visit my website at lieu.house.gov and follow me on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Threads and YouTube. If you have any questions or concerns, please call my D.C. office at (202) 225-3976 or my Los Angeles district office at (323) 651-1040. I look forward to updating you again soon.
Warmly,
Ted
