Two years ago, House Democrats passed a bill that would ensure access to contraception nationwide. All but eight House Republicans voted against it.

Republicans claim to oppose restrictions on birth control, but they refuse to take any action to protect the very thing they claim to support.

Last week, my House Democratic colleagues started a process to force a floor vote on the Right to Contraception Act , which would grant Americans in all 50 states a right to birth control. It’s common sense and overwhelmingly popular with Americans on both sides of the aisle. But House Republicans are currently doing everything they can to block the bill from coming to a vote. In the Senate, Republicans blocked the same bill.

I will never stop fighting for a woman’s right to choose. I was elected to Congress just weeks after the right-wing majority on the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade.

I promised to do everything in my power to restore the rights that were just ripped away from millions of women and to protect the rights that they could come after next. I stand by that promise today.

But House Republicans are standing in our way. We urgently need a Democratic majority in the House that will undo the damage Republicans have done to women’s reproductive freedom.
