We've seen the videos ...

Kids are having virtual birthday parties and front yard car parades
filled with friends they haven't seen in weeks.

There are weddings on Zoom. And happy hours have gone digital.

As we unite to #StayHome and fight this pandemic, we've learned how to
stay connected and celebrate life's milestones in new ways.

We may be isolating, but we shouldn't be isolated.

That's why today I'll celebrate another year. Yes, it is my birthday!

The celebration will certainly be different than years past, but it will
be purposeful.

On this day, I'm asking you to join me in supporting organizations that
work to maintain critical food supply for our most vulnerable families.

As an animal lover, I'm also supporting our local shelters. Many of them
do critical work throughout our community but are facing a severe drop
in much-needed donations.

If you are able to give during this time, find links below to some
recommended nonprofits. This list is by no means complete. There are
many organizations on the frontlines of this crisis, and I encourage you
to give to whatever groups you know and trust.

Matthew's Crossing

Since 2001, they have provided nearly 20 million pounds of food to our
neighbors in need. They are at the forefront of East Valley food
assistance programs.

Feeding America
The Feeding America network is the nation's largest domestic
hunger-relief organization. They work with local food banks across the
country and here in Arizona. During this time of uncertainty, our food
banks are hard hit for resources.

Medical Animals in Need
M.A.I.N. takes in the injured and sick that stand no chance at all of
being rescued in traditional animal shelters. After rescue, these
animals are provided needed (and often costly) medical care. They
recover in loving foster homes and once medically cleared, they are
placed up for adoption.

May you stay safe and be well,

-Joan Greene and Sawyer (one of my pups, pictured above)
