Friend, Accessibility and transparency are my top priorities as your representative, and there is nothing more valuable than hearing your direct feedback. I will be holding two in-person town hall meetings in Winneshiek and Fayette counties on Friday, June 21st, to hear from you and answer your questions. Whether we agree or disagree, I will always be transparent with you and share where I stand on the issues that matter most. I look forward to a great conversation and I hope to see you there! Winneshiek County Town Hall Friday, June 21st, 2024, 9:30 AM Luther College - Franklin W. Olin Building, Room 102 700 College Dr, Decorah, IA 52101 Fayette County Town Hall Friday, June 21st, 2024, 11:30 AM Fayette Community Library - Community Room 104 W State St., Fayette, IA 52142 Best, Allowing Greater Access to Safe and Effective Contraception Act Millions of American women safely use oral contraceptives, and allowing women to access their birth control pills over-the-counter at their local pharmacy is commonsense policy. I am proud to have teamed up with Senator Joni Ernst to introduce the Allowing Greater Access to Safe and Effective Contraception Act to expand over-the-counter access to oral contraceptives for adult women. This will expand access to safe, oral contraception for adult women and provide more convenient options for women in rural areas. While Democrats play political games, I will continue working on real policy solutions and advocating for Iowa women. Read more on my legislation here. Medal Presentation for Iowa Veteran Corporal Dickie Johnson I had the distinct honor of presenting Iowa Army veteran and Sumner native, Corporal Dickie Johnson, with medals he earned during his service in the Korean War. I will continue working to ensure our veterans receive the recognition, benefits, and care they deserve. Global Food Security Roundtable I convened a food security roundtable with farmers, university leaders, and industry experts to discuss Iowa’s leadership in agriculture production and research and the advancement of global food security. Iowa is on the frontlines of producing food, fuel, and fiber for the world and I appreciated this insightful conversation with experts and stakeholders. Ribbon Cutting Ceremony Buchanan EOC The new Buchanan County Emergency Operations Center is open! I am proud to have secured federal funding to bring this project to fruition, and loved joining community partners to celebrate the expansion of their emergency and public safety operation. I will continue working to return taxpayer dollars to the district and secure federal investments in rural communities. 100th Anniversary Celebration of the Upper Mississippi River National Wildlife and Fish Refuge I enjoyed celebrating the 100th Anniversary of Upper Mississippi River and National Wildlife Refuge in Dubuque with so many folks who live and breathe local conservation. I also introduced legislation to commemorate this milestone and recognize the efforts of local conservationists. Great Eastern Iowa Tractorcade The Great Eastern Iowa Tractorcade is one of my favorite traditions! There were over 400 tractors this year and a fabulous dinner was provided by the Delaware County Cattlemen. A huge thank you to everyone who makes the tractorcade a success! Home Builders Association of Iowa It was great to meet with the Homebuilders Association of Iowa to discuss legislative solutions to support aspiring homeowners. Iowa Bankers Association The Iowa Bankers Association was in D.C. this week! I enjoyed hearing from their team and I’ll continue advocating for access to capital for Iowa families, farmers, and small businesses – especially those in rural communities. Cedar Rapids Economic Metro Alliance It’s always great to connect with the Cedar Rapids Economic Metro Alliance. We discussed the importance of local infrastructure investment, empowering the workforce, and protecting small business tax cuts. Thanks for making the trip out to DC – the Cedar Rapids community has such great advocates.
